- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆While driving home one day, down hwy. 98 in South Santa Rosa, I was sickened to see that another incredibly ugly building had been approved to be built on our already over-busy and over ugly highway. When I saw that ANOTHER Dollar General was being constructed, I almost lost it totally. That company has built and abandoned too many ugly buildings on Hwy. 98 already and here we have one more to add to the eye soar. How can we get the people who make the decisions about how our home looks see that Hwy 98 is becoming one long strip mall. If the new buildings could at least be built behind the treeline with pleasant signage it just might help the appearance. Look at Hilton Head, SC, it is such a joy to see that most of the businesses (including Walmart) are built behind the treeline, leaving foliage and pleasant signage. I am begging our county law-makers to THINK about doing something a little differently and try to keep the appearance to something pleasant instead of adding more ugly buildings.By Helene Star, July 24, 2017
